This was a Favorite of Pontiac. They would love to Eliminate a Lock Washer with a Locking Nut! That way you just put the Bolt thru the hole and rattle the nut on. It would grip onto the threads of the fastener and if all went well lock into torque! That was the idea and they seem to love using them. Usually on critical locations.
