Fact of the matter is this. They had to be able to stuff that motor into the frame with all the suspension, steering boxes, fuel lines, brake lines, etc in already. Not to mention not cook the fuel, or brake fluid in the lines.

Then you have the fact that the Truck Motor is the only way to go for the Chevy Small Block. Lets face it, make it stiffer, larger and more impervious to damage. That way you can stomp on it and not worry.
