Not only do the Valve Stems wear out but so do the Valve Stem ends where the Rocker Arm Slides back and forth on the Tip of the Valve. Sure you can grind them flat but how do you replace the plating ground off

Once that you have good main cap register and are sure that there is no main cap walk on the dowell pins you align bore the main line. This will square it up to the caps, block and deck surfaces. Of course the square main surface sets the rest.
