In order for the Carburetor to work it needs adaquate sealing of all the Gaskets. The Air Horn Gaskets keep dirt out and fuel in. The Baseplate gaskets keep grit out and fuel vapors in. They also provide the correct amount of operating room. If they are thinner things do not have enough room to work
