That is what these oil pans are. In this case this will hold 8 quarts of oil. This helps keep the temperature down a bit and stops burning the oil. The extra oil also helps prevent oil starvation due to a Performance Oil Pump. Just think of all those idiots that install a High Pressure and Volumne Oil Pump and run 0 oil pressure at high rpm!
