You cannot leave anything to fail when you are putting together an engine. I have had many things cause me problems. One time I may have been the failure. I fixed it for free. The next time the customer ruined it on break in. The next time the customer took it home after sitting for six months and did not Prelube it before he started it. Rod Bearings went away quick I bet.
