  • I will have to remember to take a picture of the pistons before we turn them.  They need to be a bit lower in the bore to lower the compression.  I have been doing this for years and Wedge Heads have to have it done this way.

  • Here they are with the rods installed.  We thermally install the connecting rods to ensure that the Piston Pin is securely located in the Connecting Rod.  I feel that when the Connecting Rod Small End shrinks down on the pin it is more likely to stay put.

  • Once done with the assembly they had better float like they are supposed to.  If they do not perform then I press out the Pin in over $7500.00 worth of Piston Press, Fixture and tooling to make sure the Rod, Piston, and Pin are not damaged.

  • I have yet to screw up on the Connecting Rod install though. It could be possible, I am not perfect but I screwed up about 1000 motors ago.  Now I got a long running record.

  • There are Specialized Coating applied to the skirts of the Pistons.  This is to stop them from Scuffing the Bore.  Not to mention that I have yet to have a motor do this.  Of course since we bore them so there is almost no clearance any little bit helps.
