It is usually the idiots that forget to shift into first before reverse. The Broken Gear teeth chew up the shaft I am sure. Perhaps this will help out in Reverse Burn Outs. I have always seen these shafts with wear marks when removed for service. The metal generated by those uneducated reverse shifts just chews up the bushings.
