This Side Shift Cover is made out of Cast Iron, not Aluminum. Now why would a heavier part be better? Well for one reason, greater stiffness. Cast iron does not like to flex. It is solid. It also is hard to crack. The Early Aluminum Side Shift Covers would crack around the Shift Bosses
