Why coat the intake pipes? To keep cold out! It works both ways. You want to keep the heat in and the cold out! If your carburetor or intake manifold ices over plane no workie! People really do not understand these little engines! You want the heat in the exhaust to keep the exhaust flow rate up! You do not want heat in the intake! It can create detonation which can melt these little motors
