These two Backing Plates are the heart of the system. If the Friction Wear pads on the plates are not clean and properly lubed the Brake Shoes will not apply and retract properly. The one reason for blasting is such. The other is proper inspection for cracks, dents, holes, etc. In this case all damage was repaired and they were returned to As NOS condition. For High End Customers I coat them with a Friction Modifier. This way they will never rust and will remain slick as a buttered skillet with no grease.
