  • Here you can see some mighty unique inner Cam Shaft Bearing damage.  Why is this damage there?  How was it caused?  Was it due to F.O.D.  How can you get such FOD into such a small space.

  • Just take a good look at it when you are wearing your bifocals.  That way there will be no questions.  I was quite surprised when I saw this.  We had to pry the cam out of the block with a screwdriver.

  • Oh and here you have the full width center cam shaft bearing groove.  You can be assured that this was FOD damage.  A piece of FOD was shoved into the camshaft oil hole from the oil gallery.

  • And once again you have this neat looking damage on the center of the bearing.  Where did this type of damage come from?  Is is electrolytic corrosion?  Cavitation?  Chemical degredation?  Keep guessing.

  • Funny thing is this.  I think that they measured the crankshaft.  I believe that the micrometer was not zeroed and they though that it measured .010 undersize.  So they installed .010 oversize Rod Bearings.
